A quick course in coptic stitch book binding with Emily Northen at the Cheltenham Festival of Craft, August 2021 - the first craft fair we’d been to in nearly 2 years. The stall holders were so happy to be at the fair and it was a really lovely atmosphere.
We started our 2 hour session by selecting our covers from a lovely selection of papers. Everything else was laid out ready - board and paper and the selection of tools. It was a full on step by step lesson with only just enough time, but we ended up with a lovely handmade booklet to take home.
Unfortunately I don't know the origin of this lovely double sided paper that helped inform the design so much. If anyone has seen it before please let me know so I can credit it 🙏
Really handy to learn how to do a bookbinders knot to stop your needle from coming off your thread whilst stitching! You can watch a video on how to do it here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKAsZvwj0dQ
